I believe I came over the most obstacles in my acrylic texture project. It was not a challenge drawing the work on the canvas, but it was a struggle for me getting the toilet paper texture applied. That was my first time ever doing a project like that, so it wasn't easy. It was also hard to balance my work, but I overcame it. The colors were difficult to make but I think all the pastels I created worked together very well in the painting. I'm happy with how my project turned out even though it was probably the most difficult piece I created.
The two pieces that showed my growth as an artist were my ceiling tile and acrylic texture project. For my ceiling tile, I grew in the application of materials with blending, highlighting, and shadowing when I paint. It really makes my project look 100x better when I learned how to do these things and applied them to my pro-ject. These techniques along with my sketching/drawing abilities I also improved on. The subject matter of the tile was new to me and a challenge. For my acrylic project, applying and working with the toilet paper texture improve me as an artist. My artistic vision changed because I look at art a different way now that I have stepped out if my comfort zone and took in this project. These two pieces showed my growth as an artist. ( The two pictures above )
It was very effective this year to allow students to have more personal choices in subject matter and material. For me, as an artist, it allowed me to express myself more effectively. I was able to show other people what I'm capable of and what I love through my artwork. I was able to add my own touch and personality to everything I created. I loved doing this and I definitley think more students should get this opportunity. Art is something you can express yourself through. I enjoyed all the projects this year and can't wait for my next art class. Another piece of work I have that I expressed myself through is my color wheel.
